<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely calculate a speed of a moving body, using a feature of image information. <P>SOLUTION: This traffic flow monitoring system for the moving body is constructed to calculate, by a counting means 102, an image of the moving body detected by a detecting means 101 based on an image of successive frames in which a moving pattern of the moving body is photographed, and to supply information as to the image of the moving body identified by an identifying means 103 about the successive frames for speed calculating processing for the moving body by a speed calculating means 104. The speed calculating means 104 is provided with a sample speed calculating means 125 for calculating a sample speed of each moving body based on a moving quantity of the each identified moving body, a weight calculating meas 131 for calculating a weight in response to a position on an image plane of the moving body, based on a correspondence relation between a position of each picture element in the image and a position a photographing subject, and a weight-averaging means 132 for weight-averaging the sample speeds of the respective moving bodies, based on the weights obtained in the weight calculating means 131, so as to be output as an average speed in a monitoring area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
