<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston unit for a piston type compressor which can realize weight reduction, secure high-speed operation, improve the durability and enhance the productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The piston unit 10 used in the piston type compressor includes a piston 10a having a compression end face 1a1 and a piston outer diameter, and a connecting member 5 secured to the piston 10a and extending oppositely to the compression end face 1a1. The piston 10a includes a first ring 2 having an outer diameter equal to the piston outer diameter and first and second end faces, a second ring 3 having third and fourth end faces, a connection member 4 for connecting the second and third end faces to each other at angular intervals, and a disk member 1 secured at the first end portion of the first ring so as to seal the same and including an exposed face in opposition to the first ring 2 serving as the compression end face 1a1.
