PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ester compound of boric acid, having low water content and containing little impurity. SOLUTION: The method for producing the ester compound of boric acid comprises reacting a compound represented by formula (1): X-[O(AO)<SB>n</SB>-H]<SB>a</SB>[X is a group selected from a residue of a compound having 1-6 hydroxy groups, an acryloyl group or a methacryloyl group; AO is a 2-4C oxyalkylene group; n is 0-600; (a) is 1-6; n×(a) is 0-600; an average molecular weight is 110] with a boron-containing compound represented by formula (2): (RO)<SB>3</SB>-B, and distilling the boron-containing compound represented by formula (2) and an alcohol formed by the reaction and represented by formula (3): ROH (R is a 1-4C alkyl group).
