PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing system, etc., for enabling an access to a recording medium having a wide storage range with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: As the recording medium 3 is set on a control unit 1, a controller 12 reads device ID data, CIS data, and Identify-Drive data, authenticates the recording medium, and stores the Identify-Drive data. A CPU 121 reads changed Identify-Drive data from a storage part 11 corresponding to a command from a computer 2, and the controller 12 changes the stored Identify-Drive data. From that on, the controller 12 accesses the recording medium 3 based on conditions indicated by the changed Identify-Drive data. A BPT is formed for each zone, and a BPT is newly formed in the case a subject block to be accessed based on a logical block address is not present in zones grasped by existing BPT's.
