PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the circuit constitution of a drive circuit, a power supply circuit, or the like. SOLUTION: In an electro-optical device constituted of mutual crisscross arrangement of a plurality of scanning electrodes and a plurality of signal electrodes, a driving method for a liquid crystal display device uses the MLS (multi-line selection) method which divides scanning electrodes into groups each of which a plurality of scanning electrodes are simultaneously selected in, and successively selects scanning electrodes in the unit of groups, and a voltage amplitude applied to scanning electrodes is equalized to that applied to signal electrodes.
