PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide emulsion which is high in sensitivity, has a small fluctuation in sensitivity due to a difference in humidity during exposure and is excellent in reciprocity law characteristics at high illuminance. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion is sensitized by at least one compounds expressed by formula 1 and formula 4, and an Au(III) compound. In the formula 1, Ch is S, Se or Te; M is a hydrogen atom or cation; A is O, S or NR4; R1to R4are hydrogen atoms or substituents; R3may form 5-to 7-membered rings together with R1or R2, X is O, S or NR5; Y is a group synonymous with R5, OR6, and SR7; R5to R9are H, alkyl groups, alkenyl group, alkinyl groups, aryl groups or heterocyclic groups; X and Y can form a ring by bonding each other; R10, R11and R12are hydrogen atoms or substituents; at least one of R10and R11and W are electron withdrawing groups; R13to R15are hydrogen atoms or substituents; and W and R13may form a cyclic structure by bonding each other.
