PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a baccatin III or 10-desacetylbaccatin III derivative or analog which has a C9 substituent other than a keto group. SOLUTION: This baccatin III or 10-desacetylbaccatin III derivative or analog is obtained by a method in which taxol, an taxsol analog, baccatin III or 10-desacetylbaccatin III is subjected to selective reduction so as to convert its C9 keto group into a hydroxy group corresponding thereto.
