PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for a front passenger seat that can suitably develop and inflate an air bag. SOLUTION: This air bag device M for the front passenger seat is provided with the air bag 40, an inflator 11 of a long mass flow type, a retainer 17 and a case 24. The retainer 17 is provided with a base part 18 and a cover wall part 21. The cover wall part 21 extending from the base part 18 to cover a portion 49 adjacent to an open peripheral edge 48, pressed by the base part 18 of the retainer, of the air bag 40 from gas discharge ports 13 of the inflator 11, can stick mist D included in an inflating gas G discharged from the gas discharge ports 13. The cover wall part 21 is provided with a through part 22 serving as a mist growth preventing means B1 capable of preventing the growth of the mist D into a mass of mist. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
