A splitting machine (1; 100) for hides (7) is disclosed comprising a casing (2) which supports a sizing roller (6; 106) and a contact roller (9; 109) mutually parallel among which said hide to be split (7) is made to pass through, said contact roller (9; 109) being made of a plurality of rings (10) radially moving with respect to the axis (X) defined by it and cooperating with a thrust unit (11) fit to keep them in contact with said hide (7). A splitting blade (5) placed between said rollers (6, 9; 106, 109) against which said hide to be split (7) is moved forward, characterized in that said thrust unit (11) comprises a plurality of mutually different opposing means (12) each of them being operatively associated to one or more of said rings (10).
