The invention relates to a method of reducing the capacity of containers used in liquid product filling and transport processes and to the corresponding flexible container used for same. The inventive method consists in inserting a flexible container inside an outer container, filling the flexible container with a suitable fluid, such as water, air, etc., and subsequently removing said flexible container when necessary. According to the invention, the flexible container or bag comprises a filling hose and, optionally, a lower stabilising point which maintains the bag upright in the outer container and which distributes the volumes uniformly, the latter being particularly important in wine-filling processes. The invention can be used to reduce the capacity of containers.
