<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing hologram element of new configuration in order to achieve an improvement in the diffraction efficiency of the polarizing hologram element and shortening of the working time accompanying the same and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing hologram element 10 consisting of an optically transparent anisotropic substrate (an optically anisotropic substrate) 11, an optically transparent anisotropic material (an optically anisotropic material) 13 formed on the optically isotropic substrate, a diffraction grating 16 of a rugged shape formed on the surface of the optically isotropic material, an anisotropic material 14 packed in the grating, and an optically transparent substrate (optically anisotropic substrate) 15 covering the surface thereof is configured by inclining the forming direction of the diffraction grating 16 from the direction perpendicular to the substrate plane, thereby improving the efficiency of the diffracted light to be actually used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
