摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display in which an image of high image quality without producing disclination can be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: The display has gate lines 114 and data lines 104 arranged in a matrix on a substrate 101, thin film transistors at least one of which is disposed in a pixel region surrounded by the gate lines 114 and the data lines 104, a first interlayer insulating film consisting of silicon and disposed on the thin film transistor, a second interlayer insulating film on the first interlayer insulating film, a pixel electrode 108 electrically connected to the drain electrode 105 of the thin film transistor and disposed on the second interlayer insulating film, a counter substrate 111 opposing to the above substrate and having a counter electrode, and at least one spacer 115 held between the substrate and the counter substrate 111. The pixel pitch in the pixel region is≤40μm, and the average diameter of the spacer 115 in the perpendicular direction to the substrate and to the counter substrate is≤4μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p>
