摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient image input apparatus capable of shortening a stand-by time, and performing continuous reading of the originals. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 55 of an image input apparatus 39 adds one to a counter(not shown in Fig.) each time instructions to start the input of images is applied from the outside. An image compressing part 56 is put into a stand-by status until the whole images are stored in a buffer memory 46, and instructs an image condition detecting part 58 to detect the image conditions, and the image condition detecting part 58 detects the direction of rotation of the images stored in the buffer memory 46 and the presence/absence of mirror image reversal, and notifies the image compressing part 56 of the detection result. The image compressing part 56 switches the scanning order of pixels to be read from the buffer memory 46 based on the notification, and reads and compresses the image data in the switched scanning order, and stores the compressed image data into a data storage part 57. All the image data in the buffer memory 46 are stored into the image data storing part 57, and then the image data stored at last are restored by an image restoring part 62, and the image is displayed at a display 61. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
