PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording and reproducing device by which a recorded image is minimally broken even when a user erroneously interrupts a power source SW during image recording, or the lack of a battery capacity occurs, etc., so that the break is minimized. SOLUTION: While photographing and recording data in the recording medium of a recording part 104, the power source of the device is not interrupted till a prescribed end operation is completed even when the power source SW 106 is disconnected. While photographing and when the remaining amount of recording in the recording medium becomes not more than a prescribed value, photographing is automatically stopped, so as to perform the prescribed recording end operation. When the power source is erroneously interrupted during photographing(recording), so as to interrupt a recording operation without conducting the prescribed recording end operation, a prescribed file restoring operation is performed.
