PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup system, a remote controller, an image pickup device, a method for controlling it, its control program and a storage medium for allowing even the remote controller side to easily and accurately obtain the timing of the release of the image pickup device side. SOLUTION: A release timing signal associated with an image pickup timing is received from a digital camera 1 (S407), and the image pickup timing is displayed based on the received release timing signal (S409, S411, and S412).
