PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material as a more accurate diagnostic marker as a risk factor for the onset of arteriosclerotic diseases. SOLUTION: A method for diagnosing an arteriosclerotic disease comprises the steps of injecting a blood sample into a sulfo-containing ion exchange column to adsorb lipoprotein in the presence of magnesium ion, eluting the weakly adsorbed lipoprotein with a solution containing a salt such as magnesium chloride, 100 mM or less in the concentration of other salts and 150-250 mM in the total salt concentration, further eluting the remaining lipoprotein with a solution containing a salt such as magnesium chloride, 100 mM or less in the concentration of other salts and 300-400 mM in the total salt concentration to obtain a lipoprotein fraction, measuring the cholesterol level of the fraction, and using the cholesterol level as a risk factor for the arteriosclerotic disease.
