PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized ink jet recording apparatus by locating an ink jet head under an image reading device, setting a paper feeding unit under the ink jet head, feeding recording media from the paper feeding unit, reversing the feeding direction of the recording media, printing images on the recording media with the ink jet head, and rolling the recording media out to a paper stacking device by a paper roll-out roller. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording apparatus uses a shuttle type head that moves toward the perpendicular direction of the media feeding path C as the ink jet head 3, and assigns the paper roll-out roller 19 at the position near to the ink jet head 3 rather than the center CL of an apparatus case 1, and a paper roll-out device 20 between an image reading device 2 and the paper feeding device 20.
