Production of hydrogen comprises converting hydrocarbon gas and water into hydrogen in a reformer (1) and further reformer products such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, feeding the reformer products to a catalyst stage (2) and a methanizing stage (3) to reduce the carbon monoxide amount, and feeding a product gas stream containing the hydrogen and the reformer products to a carbon dioxide adsorption unit (4). A partial gas stream free from carbon dioxide is further fed to the methanizing stage.
