A WC seat made of any suitable material has a front seal to prevent urine splashes over the outside of the pedestal. This is achieved either by having a lipped profile under the front of the seat or by a lipped profile on the lip of the WC bowl engaging a recess under the front of the seat. The lipped edge of the bowl is either moulded in one process with the bowl or is a separate plastic fitting secured by suction pads or adhesive. The latter option provides a simple retrofit for existing WCs.
