Naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic acid - diimides

New compounds of formula: (where Z = -CH2CH2OH and one Z can also be H) and their salts are anti-tubercular agents when applied parenterally. They may be prepared e.g. by reacting compounds I where N(Z) = N(H) with the stoichiometric amt. of ethylene oxide in an organic solvent.
