PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with processing of coins of any diameter, to allow accurate and sure setting of a passage width, and to very easily conduct changing operation for kind of the coins. SOLUTION: In this passage width regulator for a coin handling apparatus, a stepless cam for passage width regulation is positioned in a rotational fixed point, by rotating a pulse motor reverse-directionally in every assignment of the kind of coin, so as to bring a cam follower into contact with a regulation part of the cam, and the pulse motor is rotated normal-directionally by a rate of a pulse corresponding to the kind of the coin assigned in this time to set the passage width, after the rotational fixed position is detected by a fixed position detecting sensor.
