PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactive surfactant desirable for the production of an aqueous dispersion, to provide an aqueous dispersion which uses the reactive surfactant and gives a coating film or a film excellent in water resistance and strengths, and to provide a method for producing the aqueous dispersion. SOLUTION: The reactive surfactant comprises a hydrophobic section (U) having an aromatic-ring-containing 6-100C hydrocarbon group and an optionally blocked isocyanate group and/or an epoxy group and a hydrophilic section (W) comprising oxyethylene units and at least one hydrophilic group selected from the group consisting of an anionic group, a cationic group, and a zwitter-ionic group.
