PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an new peptide which has a mitogen activity, and an immunostimulator comprising the peptide like this, or to provide a protective agent for cytomegalovirus infection. SOLUTION: The peptide comprising following amino acid sequence is obtained. Ala-Pro-Arg-Lys-Asn-Val-Arg-Trp-Cys-Thr-Ile-Ser-Gln-Pro-Asp-Ser-Phe-Lys. The peptide is prepared by collecting the peptide by decomposing bovine lactoferrin or preparing the peptide by a peptide synthesis, and medicines or the like exhibiting an immunoactivity or an activity to cytomegalovirus infection are obtained.
