PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new C1-symmetric transition metal compound and anα-olefin polymerization catalyst component comprising the same for producing anα-olefin polymer capable of imparting a propylene-based polymer as a substrate with good adhesivity and coatability even if containing no halogen such as chlorine. SOLUTION: The new C1-symmetric transition metal compound of the formula(I)( e.g. dichloro[dimethylsilylene(cyclopentadienyl)(2,4-dimethyl-4H-1-azulenyl)]hafnium ), the olefin polymerization catalyst component comprising the transition metal compound, an olefin polymerization catalyst containing the catalyst component, and a method for producing anα-olefin polymer using the catalyst, are provided respectively.
