METHOD OF LASER WELDING

A method of laser welding, comprising coating the back of an item to be wrought with a material exhibiting high affinity with ambient gas so as to prevent penetration of ambient gas into a molten metal and occurrence of welding defects; and a method of laser welding wherein simplified means are employed so as to facilitate welding of a thick plate by the use of high output laser.
