<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make multicolor display possible in a birefringent color type liquid crystal display capable of displaying multicolor by using an ordinary monochromatic liquid crystal driving IC for driving. <P>SOLUTION: The display part composed of a liquid crystal element of a birefringent color system is provided with a character display part 41 and a mark display part 42. The display is equipped with a liquid crystal driving circuit which acts: in the character display part 41, scanning signals are applied on the scanning electrode while data signals are applied on the data electrode to display characters in a single color; and in the mark display part 42, data signals are applied on both of the scanning electrode and the data electrode for color display in a plurality of colors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
