PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow waveguide whose transmission loss is low in the wavelength band of light where a quartz optical fiber can not be used, especially, in an infrared wavelength band. SOLUTION: The hollow waveguide has a metallic pipe 2 constituting a waveguide and a dielectric layer 3 internally provided on the inner wall of the pipe 2, and cyclic polyolefin polymer having transparent thickness in the wavelength band of an ultraviolet region or an infrared region of≥2μm wavelength, and having≤0.01% water absorption is used for the dielectric layer 3.
