PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive tunable optical filter capable of rapidly changing the frequency of an optical signal to be selected with good reproducibility. SOLUTION: The tunable optical filter is provided with an elastic substrate (104), a diffractive element (102) in the elastic substrate, an actuator (106) for stretching the elastic substrate to control the pitch of the diffraction element, a 1st optical path (110) and a 2nd optical path (112). The diffractive element optically cupples the 2nd optical path to the 1st optical path at an optical frequency determined by the pitch of the diffractive element. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
