PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optic recording technology of magnetic field modulation, particularly, a magneto-optic recording medium that is compatible with a device using the same optical system as that of an MD system and has a constitution optimum to attain high density. SOLUTION: At least a first dielectric layer 2, a reproduction layer 3, a recording layer 4 and a second dielectric layer 5 are laminated on a light transmissive substrate 1 in this order. In the substrate 1, a refractive index n is 1.45-1.65 in an optical system having a light source whose wavelengthλis 780±10 nm, a track pitch of a recording area is 1.2-1.3μm, and the phase depth of a guide groove formed on the substrate isλ/(3.6n) toλ/(2.5n). The guide groove protrudes toward a part on which reproduced light is made incident, wherein the width of the guide groove is 0.60-0.70μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
