PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a spherical porous body by which the porous body having a fine particle size of 0.5μm or less can be obtained and the particle size can be controlled easily. SOLUTION: This production method for the spherical porous body comprises reacting a silica material in a solution containing that material, water, an alcohol and a surfactant under a basic condition. The alcohol is at least one selected from the group consisting of isopropanol, n-propanol and ethylene glycol, and its volume is 5-80 based on 100 of water volume. The surfactant is an alkyl ammonium halide, and its concentration is 0.01-0.02 mol/l based on the total volume of the solution. Further, the method is characterized in that the concentration of the silica material is 0.02-0.03 mol/l based on the total volume of the solution. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
