STRENGTHENED PRODUCTION OF TAXOL AND TAXANE BY CELL CULTURE OF TAXUS GENUS SPECIES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover taxol and taxane from the Taxus genus species (except Taxus chinensis) in a high yield. SOLUTION: The problem is solved by a method comprising the steps of: (a) culturing the calluses of the Taxus genus species (except Taxus chinensis) and/or the cells derived from suspension culture, wherein the cultured cells are left under growth conditions independently optimized for the rapid growth of the cells; (b) exciting the biosynthesis of taxol and taxane by changing the culturing conditions into the product formation conditions independently optimized and advantageous for the biosynthesis of taxol and taxane, wherein the growth conditions and the product formation conditions are different from each other; and (c) recovering taxol and taxane from the cells and/or the culture medium.
