A crank lever (5) for a reel (2) fitted to a fishing rod (1) is tilted outwards from the vertical plane through the reel axis, at an angle of 15 to 20 deg. The winding handle (4) is set at right angles to the end of the crank lever. The tilted crank lever is operated simply by wrist action alone and without any effort from elbow and shoulder joints thus relieving strain. With a crank length of 5 to 7 cm. And a tilt angle of 15 to 20 deg. the wrist action describes a comfortable angle of 30 deg.
