PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive magnetic disk device wherein the highly accurate head positioning of the magnetic disk device is maintained, a time for servo track writing is shortened, and capital investments are reduced. SOLUTION: A pattern cycle 14 is set to be larger by three times than a track pitch, the width of a two-phase servo pattern 15 composed of A, B, C and D sections and a track identification code (gray code) 16 is set to be larger by twice than the track pitch, and a servo reproducing element 19 is disposed.
