PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device for a handrail belt capable of operating the safety device of the handrail belt when a hand or a leg of a child or the like is drawn between the cleaning device and the handrail belt. SOLUTION: This cleaning device for the handrail belt is provided with a cleaning device body 4 installed near the entrance 3 of the handrail belt 2 of a passenger conveyor, a cleaning member 6 provided in the cleaning device body 4 to abut the surface of the handrail belt 2 and apply a disinfectant or the like to it, a disinfectant feeding member 26 feeding the disinfectant or the like to the cleaning member 6, a receiving member 8 provided along the handrail belt with a gap so as not to hinder the operation of the handrail belt 2 on the opposite side to the entrance 3 of the handrail belt 2 of the cleaning device body 4, and a stress transfer member 10 transferring stress to the safety device 9 provided at the entrance 3 of the handrail belt 2 when stress is applied to the receiving member 8.
