PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high quality imaging operation on a recording medium. SOLUTION: An imaging operation is executed by ejecting a UV ink to be hardened by directing a ultraviolet ray onto a recording medium 99. An ink jet printer 9 comprises a carriage 3 reciprocally movable in the main scanning direction A on the recording medium 99, a plurality of headers 4 for ejecting ink droplets of the UV ink toward the recording medium 99, and a plurality of UV light sources 5 for directing the ultraviolet ray toward the recording medium 99. The headers 4 and the UV light sources 5 are provided on the carriage 3, and the headers 4 and the UV light sources 5 are arranged alternately in a row in the main scanning direction A.
