PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodiode, which detects light leaking out from an LED, in a photopolymerization handpiece using the LED as a light source, and to detect the power of the LED by the light leaking out from the LED. SOLUTION: The photopolymerization handpiece is equipped with a head part 12 in which the LED 14 is arranged on a substrate 15, a battery for making the LED emit the light, a gripping part with the built-in battery, a plug which is provided in the gripping part so as to put the battery on charge, and a light guide whose light-receiving end surface faces the LED and into which the light from the LED is introduced. The light, which is emitted from the LED, is applied through the light guide, and reflected light from the LED or the light leaking out from the LED is detected by the photodiode 17, so that the light emitting power of the LED can be measured.
