1,155,471. Filter for liquids. N. O. ROSAEN and B. O. ROSAEN. 20 May, 1966 [26 Nov., 1965], No. 22519/66. Heading BID. A filter, mounted between a pump (12) and a series of nozzles (26) to clear water used for descaling of steel slabs, comprises a pleated element 56 and a by-pass valve 72, 74, valve seat 72 being of cylindrical form so that valve member 74 can be moved some distance by increasing differential pressure before by-passing begins, this movement being indicated by an external pointer 98, connected to the valve by a rotary twisted strip 94, and serving to warn the operator of element clogging. The element 56 comprises a pleated sheet 108 enclosed between flat, perforate discs 102, 104 inside a cylindrical shell 106. and is engaged by prbjecting parts 58, 60 of housing cap 52 for support against upward filtering flow. The element may be removed for cleaning, or forward flow may be shut off and the element cleaned by reverse flow, directed from pump (12) through auxilliary filter (38) to inlet (40), downstream of element 56 in the housing (Figs. 1, 2, not shown), outlet 28 (shown closed by a plate 100), on the inlet side, communicating through a valve (32) with a drain.
|
