PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing ring assembling device allowing simple fitting and removing of a fixing ring, and its method. SOLUTION: The fixing ring has a pair of ring ends 11, 12 apart from each other, a region B having a fixed cross sectional plane and ranging at least 150°over the peripheral face, recessed portions 13, 14 opening to the inner periphery side in the regions of the ring ends 11, 12, and recessed portions 17, 18 opening to the outer periphery side adjacent to the terminal ends of the region B having the fixed cross sectional plane. The fixing ring is in a circular shape when resting, and it is shrunk while substantially sustaining its circular shape when the pair of ring ends 11, 12 approach each other. The fixing ring fitting device comprises a fixing ring receiving portion 30 for applying pressure to the pair of ring ends 11, 12 to some extent and a plurality of protruded portions 33, 34 protruded from the receiving portion 30 for engaging with the recessed portions 17, 18 opening to the outer periphery side.
