PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analog-to-digital conversion method and device capable of converting an analog signal into a digital value at a high speed with high accuracy by using an analog / digital converter with a simple configuration at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the device for analog-to-digital converting an input signal Vin, the input signal Vin is applied to a plurality of delay units 2 constituting a pulse delay circuit 10 in order to modulate a delay time to be given by the delay units 2. The number of delay units 2 through which a pulse signal has passed during one period of sampling clocks CK is numerically expressed. The A/D conversion device has a plurality of pulse position numerical units 12 that are used for A/D conversion. Sampling clocks CK1 to CKm whose phases are different from one another are applied to the respective pulse position numerical units 12. An adder 14 sums numerical data items DT1 to DTm produced by the respective pulse position numerical units so as to generate final numerical data DTA representing a result of A/D conversion.
