PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and efficiently producing an unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer crosslinked product having both high biodegradability and water absorbability. SOLUTION: This method for producing the unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer crosslinked product having good biodegradability is characterized by converting an unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer such as polyacrylic acid or its crosslinked product into the anhydride polymer and then reacting the anhydride polymer with a specific amino aromatic compound, or by converting a non-crosslinked unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer into the anhydride polymer, reacting the anhydride polymer with the amino aromatic compound, and then subjecting the product to a crosslinking reaction. The unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer is preferably polyacrylic acid or polymethacrylic acid, and the amino aromatic compound is preferably aminophenol. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
