PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet metal part such as a side frame 10 in which quality at a welded part can be precisely checked only by the visual inspection of its external appearance. SOLUTION: The sheet metal part is so composed that one-side ends of two metal plates 1, 2 are formed into an integral metal plate by butt-welding or by lap-welding in a layered shape, and the integral metal plate is formed into a target profile by press molding. A swelling section 4 is formed at a welding section 3 of a metal part by the press molding. The height of the swelling section is set to the height not to generate cracks and splits in normal welding and to generate them in abnormal welding. Welding quality can be easily checked by visually inspecting whether the splits or the like are generated on the surface of the swelling section 4 by the existence of the swelling section until after the press molding.
