PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that the manufacture of TiO<SB>2</SB>in which oxygen (O) is substituted for sulfur (S), the so-called S-added TiO<SB>2</SB>is difficult because the energy necessary for the substitution of O for S is extremely large although it is reported that the S-addition to TiO<SB>2</SB>is an effective means as a manufacturing method of visible light response type photocatalyst material. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the S-added TiO<SB>2</SB>photocatalyst material obtained by firing TiS<SB>2</SB>in an oxygen-containing atmosphere, the firing of TiS<SB>2</SB>is performed at a temperature of 400 to 800°C in air.
