PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a thin film of a coating material on a continuously moving filament whereby the filament is twisted, coated and spooled in a continuous operation. SOLUTION: A flowable material delivered from a coating material applicator 12 and compressed air supplied from an air applicator 14 are mixed in an air/the material mixer 16 and the mixture is sprayed on the filament 2 supplied from a filament supply apparatus 10 in a coating chamber 50. The coated filament 4 is passed through a small volume dip pool in a material collector 20 and is spooled by a filament spooling apparatus 24 through an opened space 68 of an auxiliary member 58 for sealing and an exit hole 66.
