A method for flat surface grinding has the workpiece held on a magnetic plate (1) fitted to a slider (2) to move under two rotating heads with separate vertical adjustment (5, 6). The grinding heads rotate in opposite directions for successive passes through the system to provide a high quality surface finish. The slider support is mounted on a base support frame (3) with separate ground support (4).
