PURPOSE: A method for searching a common application on a multifunctional open smart card is provided to easily search the common application by using a characteristic of an AID(Application ID) of the open smart card. CONSTITUTION: If a reset signal is applied to the card, the ATR(Answer To Reset) information, which includes the information for a maker and a version of a chip, and a mode and a speed of communication, is received from the card. After confirming the open smart card through the ATR information, the AID is set. It is confirmed that the selected AID exists in the open smart card. If the selected AID is not existed, other AID is used for confirmation again. Thus, the application is selected by using the selected AID.
