[Also in Division B3] A continuously fed consumable electrode gasshielded arc welding system is fed with a primary D.C. supply from a 1- or 3-phase rectifier 10 having a flat or slightly drooping characteristic and a secondary pulsed supply of determined frequency 20 to produce short circuit transfer. A common choke 18 or two separate chokes may be used. The electrode may be of the cored tubular type, the core being less elecconductive than the sheath. The shielding gas may be argon or helium. The pulse frequency is given as 50-125 c.p.s.</p> |
