<p>A process for smoothing the surface of wood, comprises pressing a thermoplastic filling material into openings in the surface and then hardening it. The material is liquid at temperatures between 60 and 350, especially 80 and 230 degrees C, and the material is applied at a pressure of 30-500, especially 90-400 bar. The thermoplastic binds in less than 15 minutes and is cooled down. A stamper is used to apply the material.
