PURPOSE: A paper direction converting device of an office machine is provided to employ a restoring force blocking part for preventing the force of an elastic spring from being applied to a paper guide rib before the paper guide rib rotates by a predetermined angle, thereby reducing the resistance applied to a paper when the paper passes and preventing the paper curl or jam. CONSTITUTION: A paper direction converting device of an office machine includes paper guide parts(143), a supporting part(144), an elastic restoring part(145), and a restoring force blocking part(148). The paper guide parts are disposed to a paper path traversely and move from an initial position to a paper passing position or a jam-removing position by the paper passing force or external force. The supporting part fixes the paper guide part to a frame rotatively. The elastic recovering part makes the paper guide part return from the jam-removing position to the paper passing position. The restoring force blocking part prevents the force of the elastic restoring part from being applied to the paper guide part before the paper guide part rotates more than a predetermined angle toward the paper passing position.
