PURPOSE: An electrodeless illumination system is provided to reduce the lamp turn-on time by increasing the intensity of the initial electric field and rapidly discharging gases. CONSTITUTION: An electrodeless illumination system comprises a power supply unit(10); an electromagnetic wave generating unit connected to the power supply unit, and which generates electromagnetic wave of a predetermined frequency; an electromagnetic wave feeder unit(30) connected to the outlet of the electromagnetic wave generating unit; a resonance frequency generating unit(40) having an inductor(41) and a capacitor(42) so as to select the frequency of a specific band from among the electromagnetic wave guided through the electromagnetic wave feeder unit; an electromagnetic wave resonance unit(50) having a predetermined cavity for accommodating the electromagnetic wave feeder unit and the resonance frequency generating unit; and a lamp unit(60) for permitting a light emitting material to generate light when the inert gas discharges the light emitting material.
