PURPOSE: A photonic crystal waveguide chromatic dispersion compensation apparatus combined with resonators is provided to compensate the chromatic dispersion of an inputted optical signal through a physical interaction between a point defect resonator and a line defect photonic crystal waveguide by artificially forming the point defect resonator and the line defect photonic crystal waveguide for a photonic crystal, of which the refractive index varies periodically, and adjusting the degree of the point defect. CONSTITUTION: Etching is performed for a semiconductor having a high refractive index deeply enough so that semiconductor cylinders can be regularly arranged in air, of which the refractive index is 1, in a 2-dimensional grating structure. As one semiconductor cylinder is removed from a photonic crystal, whose the refractive index varies periodically, a photonic crystal waveguide is formed. As a point defect is artificially formed at the lateral side of the proceeding direction of the photonic crystal waveguide, a pair of resonators are formed. |
